PGTI Championship Rounds 3 & 4

The fast and challenging Croft Circuit played host to rounds 3 & 4 of the 2019 Production GTI Championship last weekend.

#44 Qualified 2nd for race 1 with the #24 machine of Eccles 4th on the MK2 Grid.

It was apparent at the end of the session that #44 required a new gearbox. With the help from Matthew Rhodes (trackslag.com) & Kris Bestford (The GTI Shop) we soon had a box but limited time to fit.

With the assistance of Retro Resus Tom Walker #44 managed to drive into the collecting area with seconds to spare on the clock.

After a strong "elbows out" start #44 later retired from the race with a broken clutch plate.

Catching the leaders throughout the race #24 of Matt Eccles was looking strong in 3rd until retiring due to a loss of power.

Eccles experienced Race Engineer Daniel Slinger was able to swap the head gasket in time for #24 to start Race 2 from the pitlane to finish 3rd.

Race Director Luke Wales comments "Croft was an engineering weekend for us, we cannot understate how much we appreciate the assistance of Kris, Tom & Matt.

Competing in the Production GTI Championship is unlike any other championship we have ever participated in. The esprit de corps that exists between fellow competitors and the organisers is unique. Everyone is happy to help out those having mechanical issues to get them out on track."

Future talent Henry Eccles collects the 3rd place trophy

The PGTI Championship continues with Rounds 5, 6 &7 at Anglesey on 8th & 9th June
